The Perkins hand-held tonometer has been established for well over 20 years as a "world standard" for hand held applanation tonometers.

Portable Post-operative, bed-ridden, and paediatric patients have always been difficult to examine by traditional applanation tonometry methods. The Perkins was designed specifically with these patients in mind.
Versatile and Accurate Tonometry In busy clinics and practices with limited resources, there are times when a hand-held applanation tonometer is more convenient and cost effective for examining multiple patients.
Combined with convenience and versatility, the Perkins offers proven accuracy and brilliant visibility. Precision counter-balanced movements allow reading to be taken with the patient in any position. The illumination system provides superior fluorescein, greatly enhancing the familiar "semi-circles" which are vital to attaining accurate results. Every Perkins Tonometer is calibrated to the highest quality standards and comes with a signed and dated Certificate of Accuracy.
Examine at Arms Length The optional Perkins Examination Telescope (P.E.T.) allows magnified viewing of the fluorescein "semi-circles" at arms length, making examinations more comfortable for both the ophthalmic professional and the patient. And because the P.E.T. also makes it possible for two people to view simultaneously, it can be used as an effective teaching aid.
Accessories The Perkins Tonometer comes standard with a lightweight, compact carrying case, Goldmann Prism and battery operated handle taking four AA size batteries. Accessories include a rechargeable handle and recharging unit and Tonosafe disposable prisms.

This model of the Haag-Streit Goldmann applanation tonometer is designed for the BC 900 and BD 900 slit lamps. It mounts onto the microscope and can be swiveled into position when required.
Main features:
The measurement of the ocular pressure is carried out on the patient sitting at the slit lamp in conjunction with other routine microscopic examinations.
High accuracy of the measurement - the average deviation in any one single examination does not exceed ± 0.5 mm Hg.
The intraocular pressure in mm Hg is found by multiplying the drum reading by ten.
Scleral-rigidity is not to be taken into account as the small volumetric displacement of 0.56 mm3 increases the intraocular tension by about 2.5 % only.
Repeated measuring procedures do not reduce the ocular pressure, as no massaging effect occurs.
The instrument stays permanently mounted to the slit lamp and is swung into place when IOP readings are required.

This model of the Goldmann applanation tonometer is designed for the Haag-Streit BP 900, BQ 900 and BP 900 slit lamps. It mounts onto the microscope and can be swiveled into position when required.
The Applanation Tonometer AT 900 BQ is especially made to fit the BQ stereo-microscope. Apart from the working position, there are also two resting positions.
For perfect tonometric examination the tonometer is swung in front of the microscope and the illumination unit moved from the left to touch the bracket of the tonometer. In this position, the left and right eye of the patient can be examined without difficulties (no 60° position).
